Colds and Viral Infections (Common Cold):
When viruses that cause colds, flu or flu infect the respiratory tract and nasal lining, the body produces more mucus as part of its defense. This causes nasal congestion and phlegm.
Asthma & Bronchitis:
Chest congestion and shortness of breath may occur due to narrowing of the airways and excessive production of mucus.
Smoking & Pollution:
Inhaling tobacco smoke, cigarette smoke, fumes from factories, and chemicals can damage the tissues of the nose and lungs and cause continuous phlegm and nasal congestion.
Continuous weather changes:
Suddenly cold or humid weather can quickly worsen respiratory discomfort and phlegm.
