Main causes of back pain
Muscle or ligament strain: Lifting heavy weights, twisting suddenly, or sitting or standing incorrectly can cause strain on the muscles in the back and lead to pain.
Poor Posture: Working hunched over in front of a computer for hours is a major cause of back pain. This affects the natural curve of the spine.
Disc problems (Herniated Disc): If the disc between the vertebrae in the spine bulges out or ruptures, it can compress the nerves and cause pain from the back to the legs (Sciatica).
Spondylosis/Arthritis: As we age, the vertebrae in the spine wear down, causing pain.
Obesity: Excess weight puts more pressure on the spine and muscles.
Lack of exercise: Weak abdominal and core muscles increase the risk of back pain.
Inadequate beds: Sleeping on a bed that is too soft or old can cause pain as the spine does not get support.
Stress: Muscle tension due to stress can cause back pain.
