Causes of pain and tingling in the hands and feet
Nerve Compression:
Spinal problems: If the distance between the vertebrae in the spine decreases (disc prolapse) or the spine wears out, pressure is put on the nerves and numbness and pain is felt in the nerves going to the hands or feet.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: This is a condition where there is pressure on the nerves in the wrist. It is more common in people who use computers and do sewing work.
Nutritional Deficiency:
Deficiency of vitamin B12 and B-complex in particular affects the functioning of the nerves and causes numbness in the hands and feet.
Diabetic Neuropathy:
Long-term high blood sugar levels can damage the nerves (Peripheral Neuropathy). The main symptom of this is tingling and numbness in the feet.
Circulatory disorders:
When there is not enough blood reaching the hands and feet, pain and tingling may occur.
Thyroid problems:
Conditions such as hypothyroidism can cause swelling in the nerves and cause tingling.
Alcohol:
Excessive alcohol consumption can directly damage the nerves.
Wrong sitting or lying positions:
Sitting or lying in the same position for a long time can temporarily cause tingling due to the interruption of blood flow.
