Dust and dirt: When dust particles in the air enter the nasal passages, the body sneezes continuously to expel them.
Pollen: When pollen from plants and flowers reaches the nose through the air, people with allergies may sneeze. This is often known as seasonal allergies.
Pet dander: Proteins in the dander, saliva, and skin of pets such as dogs and cats can cause allergies.
Mold: Fungal germs found in moist areas can cause allergies when inhaled.
Strong odors: Strong perfumes, smoke, paint odors, and incense can irritate the lining of the nose and cause sneezing.
Weather changes: Weather changes such as sudden cold and low humidity in the air can cause sneezing.
Why do allergies occur?
Our immune system mistakes these normally harmless substances (dust, pollen) as a threat and releases a chemical called histamine to get rid of them. This process causes a runny nose and sneezing.
