Reasons for excessive hair growth

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS/PCOD): This is the most important reason for excessive hair growth in women. This condition causes small cysts in the ovaries, which causes the body to produce excess androgen, a male hormone.

Hormonal changes: When the level of androgen hormone increases in the body or the level of estrogen hormone decreases, facial hair growth may increase.

Genetics: If your mother or sisters have this problem in your family, you are more likely to have it.

Obesity: Obesity causes insulin resistance, which indirectly leads to increased androgen hormone.

Side effects of medications: Long-term use of certain medications (e.g. steroids) can cause hair growth.

Adrenal gland problems: If there is a tumor or something else in the adrenal gland, it can affect hormone production and cause excessive hair growth.
