The main causes of neck pain:
Poor Posture / “Text Neck”:
Sitting with your head bent for long periods of time while using a mobile phone or computer puts excessive strain on the muscles and bones of the neck and causes pain.
Cervical Spondylosis:
This is a natural wear and tear that occurs in the vertebrae of the neck (Spine) and the discs between them as we age. This can lead to reduced mobility and chronic pain in the neck.
Disc Bulge or Slip Disc (Cervical Disc Herniation):
When the disc between the vertebrae shifts and presses on the nerves, you experience severe pain in the neck and it can spread to the shoulders and arms.
Muscle Strain / Spasm:
Sudden movements, lifting heavy objects, or sleeping with your head in the wrong position can cause the muscles in your neck to tighten.
Stress:
People who are under severe stress may unconsciously tense the muscles in your neck and shoulders, which can later turn into severe pain.
Whiplash Injury / Accidents:
When the head is suddenly jerked back and forth in a car accident or fall, the ligaments and muscles in your neck can be injured.
