Muscle Strain:
This is the most common cause of back pain. Lifting heavy objects incorrectly, twisting suddenly, or performing tasks that put excessive stress on the muscles can cause small tears in the muscles and ligaments.
Poor Posture:
Working hunched over in a chair for long periods of time (especially on a computer or phone) and sitting in a position where the spine is not supported are major causes of back pain.
Herniated Disc:
A herniated or ruptured disc between the vertebrae in the spine puts pressure on the nerves. This causes severe pain and pain that radiates down the legs (sciatica).
Degenerative Changes in the Spine:
As we age, the natural wear and tear on the bones and discs in the spine can cause pain.
Obesity:
When body weight increases, it puts a lot of pressure on the spine. Especially belly fat pulls the spine forward, which puts more strain on the back muscles.
Stress:
Continuous mental stress causes the muscles in the body to tighten. This can worsen back pain.
What can be done for relief?
Correct sitting: Make sure your spine is straight while sitting (use lumbar support).
Exercise: Do exercises and yoga that strengthen the back muscles (e.g., Bhujangasana).
Lifting heavy objects: Do not bend over when lifting weights, but sit with your knees bent and lift them.
Sleeping style: Using a thin pillow and lying on your side is good for the spine.
