The main causes of these are mostly the same. What they are and why they occur are explained below.

1. Piles / Hemorrhoids
This is a condition in which the veins inside or outside the anus become swollen.

Causes: Chronic constipation, excessive straining during bowel movements, sitting on the toilet for a long time, pregnancy, and a lack of fiber in the diet.

2. Anal Fissure
A fissure is a small tear or crack in the skin of the anus. It causes severe pain.

Causes: When hard stool passes through the anus, the skin tears. Constipation is also the main culprit. Continuous diarrhea can also cause fissures.

3. Anal Fistula
This is a condition in which the glands near the anus become infected and pus forms (Abscess), which bursts and forms a small tunnel or passage outside the anus.

Causes: Abscesses in the glands near the anus, if not treated on time, can lead to fistula. Diseases that affect the digestive system, such as Crohn’s disease, can also cause this.

Why do these diseases occur? (Common causes)

Chronic Constipation: When stool becomes hard and difficult to pass, it puts pressure on the veins and skin in the anus.

Diet: Low fiber diet, low water intake.

Lifestyle: Lack of exercise, sedentary work.

Poor hygiene: Not keeping the anus clean can also cause infection (fistula).
