Things to note (treatment advice):
Rest: Plenty of rest is essential for the body to recover quickly.
Isolation: Since mumps is a contagious disease, keeping the patient away from others for at least 5-7 days will help prevent the spread.
Food: Spicy and sour foods can stimulate the salivary glands and increase the pain. So eat foods that are easy to digest and soft. Drink plenty of water.
Steam/Apply a cold cloth: As per the doctor’s advice, a cold cloth can be applied to the swollen area to reduce pain.
