Main causes of diabetes
Lifestyle factors:
Lack of exercise: A lifestyle with little physical activity increases insulin resistance.
Overweight: Excess body fat, especially belly fat, prevents insulin from working properly.
Dietary habits: Eating too much sugar, flour, fried foods, and processed foods quickly raises blood sugar levels.
Genetic factors:
If parents or close relatives in the family have diabetes, you are more likely to develop it.
Autoimmune disorders:
In type 1 diabetes, the body destroys the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin on its own.
Hormonal changes:
During pregnancy, some women develop diabetes due to hormonal changes (gestational diabetes). They are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes later.
Other health problems & medications:
Continuous stress and lack of sleep can affect the body’s metabolism.
Continuous use of certain medications (such as steroids) can also cause diabetes.
