The main causes and ways of spreading it are given below:

Causes of ringworm
Fungal infection (Dermatophytes): It is caused by fungi such as Trichophyton and Microsporum. These grow by feeding on the protein keratin in the skin.

Direct contact: It can be spread by touching the skin of a person with ringworm.

Animal transmission: If domestic animals (dogs, cats, cows, etc.) have ringworm, it can be spread to humans by touching them.

Indirect contact: The disease can be spread by sharing towels, clothes, combs, bed sheets, or soaps used by an infected person.

Moist environment: Fungus grows quickly in areas where sweat accumulates (groin, armpits, thighs). Therefore, wearing wet clothes for a long time can cause infection.
