Main causes of kidney stones
Dehydration:
This is the most important reason. When you do not drink enough water, your urine becomes too concentrated. This creates the conditions for the formation of stones.
Dietary habits:
Excessive salt consumption: If the diet is high in salt (sodium), the kidneys will need more water to excrete it. This can cause stone formation.
Oxalate-rich foods: Chocolate, nuts, spinach, etc. are high in oxalate. This can cause stones in some people.
Excessive protein: Excessive consumption of animal protein (meat) increases the amount of calcium in the urine.
Obesity: People who are overweight are more likely to develop stones.
Genetics: If someone in your family has had kidney stones, you are more likely to develop them.
Medical conditions: Digestive diseases (such as Crohn’s disease), diabetes, and hyperparathyroidism can also cause kidney stones.
Medications: The continuous use of certain medications can also cause stones to form.
