Reasons for knee pain

Osteoarthritis: This is a condition in which the cartilage that covers the bones of the knee wears down with age. Symptoms include pain, swelling, and clicking when moving the joint.

Injuries: Injuries to the ligaments or meniscus in the knee during sports or accidents can cause severe pain.

Obesity: As you gain weight, excessive pressure is placed on the knees with each step. This causes rapid wear and tear.

Muscle weakness: If the muscles in the thigh (Quadriceps & Hamstrings) are weak, the knee will lose its balance and become painful.

Arthritis: Diseases such as Gout or Rheumatoid Arthritis can cause swelling and pain in the knees.

Tendinitis: Inflammation of the tendons that connect the kneecap to the muscles. This is common in people who do excessive stair climbing or running.
