Main causes of pink eye
Viral Infection: The most common cause of pink eye is viruses (Adenovirus). It spreads very quickly from one person to another.
Bacterial Infection: Pink eye caused by bacteria causes pus to form in the eye. It is seen when the eyelids are stuck together when you wake up in the morning.

Allergic Conjunctivitis: Allergies to dust, pollen, pet dander, and certain types of perfumes can cause itching and redness in the eyes. It is not contagious.
