Main causes of rectal cancer

Age: This disease is more likely to develop in people over 50 years of age. But it is now also seen in younger people.

Genetics: If someone in the family (parents, siblings) has had colon cancer, the risk is higher.

Dietary habits:

 

Excessive consumption of red meat (beef, mutton) and processed meat (ham, sausage).

Low-fiber and high-fat diet.

Lifestyle:

Lack of exercise.

Obesity.

Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

Chronic bowel diseases: Long-term intestinal inflammation such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease can lead to cancer.

 

Type 2 diabetes: The risk of developing colon cancer is slightly higher in people with diabetes.
