Main causes of knee pain

Osteoarthritis: This is a condition in which the cartilage between the bones of the knee wears down with age. It is also called ‘arthritis’. This is the main cause seen in adults.

Injuries: Injuries that occur during sports activities or falls. Damage to the ligaments and damage to the meniscus can cause sudden knee pain.

Obesity: The knees bear the entire weight of the body. In overweight people, the knees put excessive pressure on them, which accelerates the wear and tear of the joints.

Gout: When the level of uric acid in the blood increases, it forms crystals in the joints, causing severe pain and swelling.

Rheumatoid Arthritis: This is a condition in which the body’s immune system attacks the joints. This is accompanied by pain and swelling and stiffness in the joints.

Lack of exercise or overuse: Lack of muscle strength weakens the knees. Similarly, constant climbing of stairs and doing strenuous exercises can be harmful.

Vitamin deficiency: Vitamin D and calcium deficiency weakens bones and joints.
