Although there is no single cause, the following factors increase the risk of developing stomach cancer:

Main Reasons for Stomach Cancer
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection: This is a long-term infection in the stomach. It causes inflammation of the stomach (Chronic Gastritis) and can lead to cancer over time.

Dietary habits:

Excessive consumption of salty foods, pickles, and dried fish.

Low intake of fruits and vegetables.

Processed meat (for example, sausage, bacon).

Lifestyle:

Smoking: Smokers are much more likely to develop stomach cancer than non-smokers.

Excessive alcohol consumption.

Other stomach diseases:

Untreated peptic ulcer.

Polyps (small tumors) in the stomach.

Chronic gastritis.

Genetic factors (Family History): If close relatives in the family have had stomach cancer, this risk may also be genetic.

Age and gender: The risk increases with age (over 50 years). It is more common in men than in women.

Previous surgeries: People who have had previous surgeries for diseases such as stomach ulcers have a slight risk of developing cancer many years later.
