Reasons for Melanoma

Autoimmune Conditions: The most common cause is when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys our own melanin cells.

Genetics: It is more likely to occur if parents or relatives have melanin in the family. However, it is not seen in everyone.

Neurogenic factors: Sometimes certain substances released from the nerves can destroy melanin cells.

Self-destruction of cells: A condition in which cells destroy themselves due to certain byproducts produced during melanin production.

Other causes (trigger factors): Severe mental stress, excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun, or contact with certain chemicals may trigger it in some people.

Important things to note
This is not contagious: It is not transmitted to others by touching, sitting together, or eating. Avoid making assumptions based on lack of knowledge.

It is not cancer: Vitiligo is a condition that has nothing to do with skin cancer.

Proper treatment: Since it is a skin disease, see a dermatologist for treatment. Phototherapy, creams, and medications can help some people regain their color.
