The main causes of bone wear and tear
Aging: As we age, the strength of bones and cartilage decreases and wear and tear occurs naturally.
Obesity: Being overweight puts a lot of pressure on weight-bearing joints such as the knees, back, and hips. This causes wear and tear over time.
Injuries: Past falls, sports injuries (such as ACL tears), and excessive trauma to the joints can cause wear and tear on those joints later.
Genetic factors: Some families may have inherited differences in the structure of the joints. This increases the risk of wear and tear.
Occupational habits: Sitting in the same position for a long time, carrying heavy objects excessively, going up and down stairs excessively, and working on your knees for a long time can wear down the joints.
Lack of exercise: Weak muscles around joints put more work on the joints, which accelerates wear and tear.
Other medical conditions: Rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes can affect joint health and lead to wear and tear.
